Alcamo is located in the heart of the Gulf of Castellammare between Palermo and Trapani and surrounded by major tourist centers.

Mainly known for its D.O.C. wine, for its characteristic “purceddu” melon and for the beaches of Alcamo Marina, very popular during the summer season.

Alcamo, a center where there are churches that are real treasure chests of art, where you can discover masterpieces ranging from frescoes to stuccos, dating back to a very fruitful period, between the 16th and 17th centuries. For this reason it is considered one of the most renowned centers in the province of Trapani for history, culture and traditions.

The symbol of the city is the Castle of the Counts of Modica, owners of the place between 1410 and 1812, although the structure was built in the mid-1300s by the Chiaramonte.

Today the Castle is home to a museum and cultural activities center, it hosts the Wine Museum and many testimonies on the local culture. Among the nearby itineraries to visit the Natural Reserve of Bosco di Alcamo, the medieval village of Erice, the salt pans of Trapani and Marsala, Palermo Sicilian capital. Alcamo is also the city of Ciullo, known precisely as Ciullo D’Alcamo. Italian poet and playwright was one of the most significant representatives of the popular giullaresca poetry of the Sicilian school. To him we owe also the origin of the Italian language with “The contrast.”
